Freek van Duin debuteert met zijn kinderboek Ziep Rolstoel Toverpaard. Freek is een jonge man van dertig jaar en lijdt aan de chronische ziekte van Duchenne. Het is altijd al Freeks droom geweest om een kinderboek te maken waarin een kind in een rolstoel niet als slachtoffer wordt gepresenteerd, maar als een fantasierijk en actief persoon met eigen dromen. Om deze droom te verwezenlijken nam Freek contact op met zijn vriend Eddy Terstall, die filmmaker is. Samen probeerden ze een netwerk op te bouwen om een dergelijk boek te realiseren.

Freek heeft tekenaar Kees Koorevaar weten te overtuigen om samen in overleg de illustraties te maken. Tim Knol en zijn platenmaatschappij I Love My label hebben aangeboden om het boek uit te brengen in combinatie met een heuse titeltrack.

Met Ziep Rolstoel Toverpaard worden kinderen met een beperking op een voetstuk gezet. Anno 2020 is dat urgenter dan ooit. Net als Freek van Duin leeft een grote groep kwetsbare kinderen, door invloed van het Corona-virus, maanden in gedwongen isolatie. Gelukkig is Freek een doorzetter en heeft hij zijn verhaal opgeschreven, ondanks zijn zware beperking. Een lichamelijk zware taak, want Freek kan door zijn ziekte alleen zijn vingers bewegen.

Het boek vertelt het verhaal over de kleine Ziep. Ziep zit in een rolstoel. Daardoor kan hij minder dan andere kinderen. Maar hij heeft wel een grote fantasie. Ziep's toverpaard laat de wensen van de jongen uitkomen. Samen met zijn beer maakt hij grote avonturen mee. Van de zoektocht naar toverstof in muizenwonderland naar een verre reis op de rug van een vogel naar zijn oom Beppe.

Tim Knol schreef een lied gebaseerd op het verhaal. Het nummer is bijgevoegd op de CD achterin het boek. Beluister hier het nummer 'Ziep Rolstoel Toverpaard'.
